Obligations for cats and ferrets that travel
Cats and ferrets owners (and also dog owners but therefore, apply to ABIEC-BVIRH) must get a passport to travel with their pet. This is governed by the European Regulation of 26 May 2003 on the animal health requirements applicable to the non-commercial movement of pet animals (applicable since 1 October 2004). ID Chips is recognized by the Belgian Government to distribute these passports.
It is mandatory to identify the animal to get its passport.

Obligations for cats and ferrets that do not travel
In Belgium, if a cat or a ferret is identified when he is given an anti-rabies vaccine injection, this vaccination must be written down in a passport linked to the identification (AR 21/09/2004 modifying AR 10/02/1967 about rabies sanitary regulation: art. 14, § 2).
Even if you are not directly concerned by these rules,
we advise you to identify and register your pet automatically to foresee any difficult or unexpected situation. The registration constitutes an essential security for your pet. See registration advantages
Even if your pet does not travel with you,
we advise you to get a passport notably because the passport gathers all information you need and all legal and mandatory information.
